Flint McNaughton, CEO/Founding Partner 


As founding partner of SunCap Property Group, Flint brings over 30 years of national commercial real estate development expertise to his leadership role at the company. Flint started in the business as a commercial real estate broker in his native town of Miami, Florida spending most of his initial eight years in the industry with Cushman & Wakefield. While there, Flint worked on behalf of institutional landlords leasing space in Class "A " urban and suburban office buildings as well as building a substantial book of business in the tenant representation side of the business.

In 1994, Flint moved his family to Charlotte, North Carolina to join The Harris Group (later merged with Lincoln Property Company) to pursue his passion in development. As Senior Vice President of Development and Director of Corporate Services at Lincoln Harris, Flint led several national corporate real estate services accounts including ALLTEL, JC Bradford & Co. and Interstate/Johnson Lane and completed over 350 brokerage transactions and over three million square feet of build-to-suits in 37 states.

In 2004, Flint joined Lauth Property Group in Charlotte as their Southeast regional partner and grew the full service development and construction company's Southeast Region into the number one-ranked development company in the Carolinas (2008 Charlotte Business Journal's annual rankings) with an annual development and construction volume of over $150 million per year. Flint served on Lauth's Capital Committee and its Executive Committee.

In March of 2009, Flint left Lauth to start SunCap Property Group and refocus his development energies on long term single tenant build-to-suit projects and to build an organization of seasoned professionals highly focused on serving client needs.

Flint currently serves on the Board of Directors at The Harvest Center of Charlotte and is an Executive Board Member of the Mecklenburg County Council of The Boy Scouts of America.

Flint holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
 

Austin W. Lehr, Chief Investment Officer 


Austin has been actively involved in the commercial real estate industry for over 30 years. He brings a wealth of knowledge in the areas of:  investment strategy; development management; portfolio/asset management; finance; due diligence; leasing; marketing; acquisition; product strategy and repositioning; debt/equity restructuring; partnership relations and financial reporting. Over the course of his career, Austin has managed over $5 billion of assets in diversified global real estate portfolios, multiple Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-certified development projects and a development pipeline in excess of  $1 billion measured by construction volume.
 
Prior to SunCap, Austin served as the chief operating officer for Dividend Capital Diversified Property Fund (DPF), a $3.1 billion Denver-based public real estate investment trust (REIT) that invests in a diverse portfolio of real properties and debt investments. DPF's portfolio consisted of 116 properties totaling approximately 20.1 million square feet of office, industrial and retail properties in over 30 geographic markets.
 
In 2004, Austin joined Lauth Property Group, ultimately serving as the company's executive vice president and chief investment officer, where he established a national operating platform, co-directed the investment committee and provided strategic leadership across four product types for this privately held commercial real estate development company with 450 employees and eight regional offices.
 
Additionally, Austin served as a visiting professor at the University of Colorado's Leeds School of Business and is actively affiliated with the Office Development Council of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and the National Association of Industrial & Office Properties (NAIOP).

Austin holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from Williams College and a Master of Business Administration in finance from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
 

Brendan McCarthy, Chief Financial Officer 


Brendan's primary role as the chief financial officer is capital formation, as well as capital structuring and sourcing with preferred partners. Under Brendan's leadership, SunCap is able to deliver superior risk adjusted returns to its partners while delivering cost competitive projects to its clients and excellent capital markets execution.

Prior to joining SunCap, Brendan was the founding Principal of Langholz Wilson Ellis Capital Solutions, based in Pittsburgh. Langholz Wilson Ellis Capital Solutions provided clients with solution oriented debt capital advisory services for all asset classes and in each part of the capital stack. Brendan has over 20 years of real estate and real estate capital markets experience, which included time with the land acquisitions team at NVR Inc. 

The bulk of his career was spent with Pittsburgh National Corporations Capital Markets and Pittsburgh National Corporations Real Estate Finance. He has closed over $3 billion in structured capital for real estate projects and real estate related entities.  

Brendan holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from Boston College and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Cincinnati. 
 

Brian Hirsch, President


As President of SunCap Property Group, Brian is responsible for leading the executive and project teams, focusing on client-centered, collaborative real estate development services. Brian joined SunCap in 2010, bringing over 20 years of real estate development experience working with national firms, delivering office, industrial, retail, healthcare and multifamily projects. While with SunCap, Brian has been responsible for the delivery of over $3 billion in successful development while providing leadership to several divisions of SunCap, including construction and development operations.

Brian began his career in the Northern Virginia / Washington, DC market with the Charles E. Smith Companies (CES), working with that group through mergers with Vornado Realty Trust and Archstone Communities Trust. While there, Brian led the capital improvement and redevelopment efforts of numerous commercial office, retail and mixed-use properties, leading several key accounts, including the Patent and Trademark Organization, Department of Defense and General Services Administration. Work with these agencies required advanced security clearances, complicated and precise building standards, and 100% on-time delivery.

In 2003, Brian left Northern Virginia for Charlotte, NC to grow his career and family. Working with several regional and national firms, he continued focus on account-based work, building and developing for national retail banks, healthcare organizations and industrial clients. While with Lauth Property Group, Brian was a key member of teams responsible for developing medical office buildings for holistic cancer treatment, outpatient surgery centers and NASCAR's 19-story regional headquarters in uptown Charlotte.

Brian holds a degree in civil engineering from Virginia Tech University and is a licensed general contractor.
 

Fred Bolt, Executive Vice President 


Fred has 30 years of experience in the development, construction, acquisitions and management of mixed-use and multifamily developments and leads SunCap's efforts in those areas. He has national expertise with seasoned experience in most major metropolitan cities throughout the US and has worked in both public and private companies as well as national REITs, including Post Properties, Colonial Properties and UDR. Throughout his career he has been involved in the development and construction of over 15,000 multi-family units located throughout the Southeast and Sunbelt regions.  

Immediately prior to joining SunCap, Fred was senior vice president of Adolfson & Peterson Construction and was responsible for all aspects of the Atlantic Region's daily operations, heading over $350 million of mixed-use and multi-family construction.

Fred received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration from West Virginia University and he has been active in several community and professional associations throughout his career. He currently serves on the ULI Transit-Oriented Development Council (TODC) and has served on the ULI Charlotte Management Committee.
 

Jason K. Bria, General Counsel


With over 20 years of legal experience in commercial real estate, Jason has served as General Counsel since 2011. His primary responsibility is advising and representing SunCap regarding all legal matters related to SunCap's business activities in commercial real estate development. Jason's unique business and legal background, which includes real estate development work outside of the legal department, allows him to balance business risks and legal decisions from an informed and experienced perspective. 
 
Prior to SunCap, and following private law firm practice, Jason spent two years as Associate General Counsel for Lauth Property Group, at the time, the 13th largest commercial real estate developer in the US. Jason handled over five million square feet of contract negotiations for retail, office, industrial and healthcare projects across the US. While at Lauth, Jason transitioned from the legal department to spend three years as Senior Director of Office and Industrial Development, serving as the project executive for five master-planned industrial parks where his responsibilities included marketing, land sales, leasing, and pursuing development opportunities, including build-to-suits. During that time, he won several leasing awards and oversaw the development of the largest industrial building in the state of Kentucky at 936,000 square feet. 
 
Jason earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science from Ball State University; a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Indiana University; and a Certificate in Construction Project Management from Purdue University.
 

Racshunn Farrington, Senior Paralegal/Closing Officer


With over 25 years of experience in commercial and residential real estate, loan servicing and real estate closings, Racshunn has been intricately involved with all of SunCap's legal efforts since she joined in 2014. Her vast experience with the complexities of real estate transactions and her expert attention to detail ensure all the firm's transactions transpire efficiently. While at SunCap, Racshunn has been instrumental in closing over 130 commercial and multifamily deals with a value over $3 billion in aggregate.
 
Prior to SunCap, Racshunn was a Commercial Portfolio Manager with Wells Fargo where she was responsible for the overall asset management and reporting for a portfolio of commercial loans. Racshunn began her career as a Real Estate Closing Paralegal with the law firm of Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein where she was responsible for facilitating real estate closings, analyzing title documents, conducting research and distributing real estate documents. 
 
Racshunn earned an Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies from King's College in Charlotte, North Carolina and is a notary public for Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.
 

Mike Orr, Senior Vice President


Mike has over 28 years of successful experience developing and delivering institutional grade commercial properties predominantly in the Western United States. As a lead development executive, Mike has opened new market offices in Denver, Phoenix, Las Vegas and Southern California. The cornerstone of Mike's success is his ability to establish trust with clients and brokers and in his track record of delivering projects on time and on budget. With a strong construction background and extensive horizontal and vertical development expertise across multiple product types, Mike provides the insight, leadership and communication skills necessary to navigate through complicated transactions. Mike has an extensive list of successful project completions ranging from one-off single tenant build-to-suit facilities to large institutional grade industrial parks and Class A multi-building office developments. 

Mike received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction from Northeast Louisiana University.
 

Paxton Hollar, Senior Vice President


Paxton has 22 years of experience in commercial development, brokerage, management and investment of all product types within the commercial real estate industry. Paxton's primary responsibility is furthering the success of SunCap's build-to-suit delivery program by establishing client partnerships for initiating new developments across the Southeast and evaluating speculative development opportunities for SunCap throughout the region.

Prior to joining SunCap in 2014, Paxton was Vice President and Director of Business Development with JE Dunn Construction. There he was responsible for brand recognition as JE Dunn transitioned from its acquisition of R.J. Griffin and Company, helping grow the company's revenue an average of 200% per year. Paxton began his real estate career with Lincoln Harris in Charlotte, leaving in 2004 to join two colleagues in the establishment of the first regional office for Lauth Property Group. For six years he managed the Southeastern Retail Development Team and all facets of the company's retail developments including procurement, entitlement, anchor tenant negotiations, construction and disposition. 

Paxton graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication. He has also studied Business Communication abroad at the University of Trondheim in Trondheim, Norway and FSU London in London, England. Since 2006, Paxton has served on the Board, the Executive Committee, and the Building Committee of Myers Park Trinity Little Leagueand has lead over 35 baseball teams as a volunteer coach. Paxton is also an advocate and research participant with the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation. 
 

Matthew P. Virgin, Senior Vice President


As a Senior Vice President of Business Development based out of the Pittsburgh office, Matt's primary focus is the cultivation of new business opportunities for SunCap, working with clients that have industrial space requirements in the Northeast. Matt's background in tenant representation, disposition and strategic planning provides him unparalleled insight into tenant needs and goals. He has often been recognized as a top producer, completing transactions across the spectrum of commercial real estate classifications of retail, office, industrial, general commercial and manufacturing. He has represented a wide range of tenants including international software development firms, engineering firms, oil and gas field service groups, medical practitioners, law firms, energy companies, and financial service providers. He has recently been instrumental in bringing multiple industrial development projects to the Pittsburgh area. In addition to procuring build-to-suit work, he is responsible for site selection for SunCap's own speculative developments..

Matt is a native of Pittsburgh and a graduate of Duquesne University with a Bachelor's degree in marketing. He is a SIOR member and holds a real estate license in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Currently he serves on the Jefferson Regional Medical Center Foundation Board.
 

Derek J. Mathis, Senior Vice President


Based in SunCap's Charleston, SC office, Derek oversees both build-to-suit and speculative industrial development efforts across the lower Southeast region. Prior to joining SunCap, Derek served Director of Industrial Development for WestRock Land & Development, where he was involved in the development of +12,000 acres of industrial land across ten campuses and completed transactions totaling $150 million. He has delivered projects for companies such as Tristone Flowtech, Milliken, Gerber Childrenswear and Home Depot and has been involved with several economic development projects including Volvo Cars US, Thorne Research and Juliska.

Derek is a member of numerous professional associations, is a past president and current board member at the Dee Norton Lowcountry Children's Center and serves on the Berkeley Chamber Board of Directors. In 2016, he was named to Charleston Business Magazine's "50 Most Influential" list and was a member of the 2015 "Forty under Forty" class, awarded by Charleston Regional Business Journal. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Management from Clemson University and a Master's of Real Estate Development from Georgetown University.

David Lee, Senior Vice President


David has twenty-four years of experience in the acquisition, entitlement, development and construction of mixed-use projects across the US. He has been involved in over $1 billion in various commercial office, retail, multifamily and singlefamily projects. He has spent most of his career in the Carolinas, but more recently was focused in the western US while employed with a national multifamily owner and operator. In addition, he has completed large retail projects with anchor tenants such as Publix, Wegmans and Harris Teeter.   
 
Prior to joining the SunCap team, David lead Cortland Partners' efforts in the West, covering Nevada, Utah, Arizona & Colorado. Prior to that time, David was an executive vice president with Stiles Corporation, running the North Carolina and South Carolina offices. 
 
David received a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Business Administration from UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School. He is an active ULI member and is a CCIM candidate.
 
 

Andrea Reed, Senior Controller


Andrea brings over twenty years of expertise in real estate finance to SunCap, where she is responsible for overseeing the strategic financial management and accounting operations of the organization. Andrea serves in a leadership role, managing treasury and banking relationships and providing oversight for the accounting team responsible for budgeting and cash flow management as well as financial forecasting, tax, audit and investment analysis.

Prior to joining SunCap, Andrea held positions with Faison, Primax Properties and Crescent Resources where she supervised accounting and financial functions for a wide variety of portfolios and projects.

Andrea is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Management Accountant with the Institute of Management Accountants and is active in CREW Charlotte. She has a Master of Business Administration in International Business and Corporate Finance from the University of Georgia and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from Winthrop University.
 

Matthew Kramer, Managing Director


Matt has been actively involved in the commercial real estate finance industry since 2002. His SunCap responsibilities include structuring, sourcing and managing the firm's capital resources through various equity and lender relationships, underwriting, credit analysis and financial modeling.

Before joining SunCap, Matt served as Vice President at Grandbridge Real Estate Capital, a wholly owned subsidiary of BB&T Bank, where he was responsible for sourcing both equity and debt for local, regional and national clients. Matt successfully placed debt and equity for a wide variety of asset classes, including multi-family, retail, industrial, office and hospitality. Prior to Grandbridge, Matt worked for several large regional and national banks including PNC Bank and Citizens Bank, and held positions with HFF, one of the largest commercial real estate intermediaries in the country. His roles included originations, portfolio management, underwriting and risk management. Throughout his career, Matt has successfully capitalized over $1 billion in commercial real estate transactions.

Matt holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and a Masters in Business Administration from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
 

Mark Paschal, First Vice President


Mark joined SunCap's Charlotte office in 2020 and leads the advancement of SunCap's national build-to-suit development platform.

Mark is a proven business and people leader with a track recording of building and advising companies of all sizes, from start-ups to the Fortune 100. Throughout his career, Mark has been responsible for leading and scaling companies through aggressive growth periods. Prior to joining SunCap, Mark was with Axiom, launching their Charlotte office and leading a team of enterprise client partners and engagement managers to drive growth with new and existing clients in North America for the Consumer, Industrial, and Services practice.

He earned a degree in management from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master's degree from the University of Georgia. Mark serves on the Bowl Selection Committee for the Charlotte Sports Foundation and is active with Charlotte Latin School as a board member on the Alumni Governing Board.
 

Ryan Allen, First Vice President, LEED AP


Ryan has over 15 years of experience in the construction industry. Ryan's proven leadership abilities in cost analysis and critical project management have enabled him to successful delivery over one million square feet for a variety of projects that include: higher education, commercial, corporate office, retail, K-12 schools and hospitality.

Ryan's most recent projects are: Pickens County High School - $36 million, Mecklenburg County Arrest Processing Center over $5 million renovation to existing Arrest Processing Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. Time Warner Cable Data Center a $75 million data facility located in Charlotte, North Carolina. Currently with SunCap, Ryan is responsible for over 200,000 square feet of industrial space.

Ryan received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Clemson University, a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accreditation from the United States Green Building Council and a management certification from the United States Amy Corps of Engineers Quality Control.
 

Darius Oleksy, First Vice President


Demonstrating excellent analytical, problem solving, and communication skills, Darius Oleksy has over 20 years of experience in providing direction and supervision for the delivery of real estate development projects.

Darius began his career as an Estimator with J.A. Jones Construction Company, and has held progressive roles in construction, design, and development. In his current role at SunCap, he is responsible for managing real estate development projects from initial due diligence through project execution, including acquisition, design, municipal entitlement and pre-construction activities to ensure quality, timely and profitable delivery.

Darius received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and maintains licensure as a professional engineer and a real estate broker.

 
 

Ben Faist, First Vice President, LEED AP


As a first vice president of SunCap Property Group, Ben focuses on the successful delivery of distribution center projects for SunCap's primary clients, from due diligence through completed construction. Ben has worked through entitlement, design development, contract negotiation, construction management and project turnover for multiple 100,000 square-foot plus industrial and distribution facilities in different markets across the country.  

Prior to joining SunCap, Ben spent several years working with both a large national developer and general contractor. Over the course of his career, Ben has successfully delivered projects in numerous market segments, including healthcare, retail, commercial office, multifamily, hospitality, education, industrial, and distribution. Ben's extensive range of project experience provides him with a unique perspective to the project delivery process. Ben's skill set enables him to excel in quality control, budget development, cost control and fast-track scheduling.

Ben holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Engineering and Management from Purdue University and earned his MBA from Wake Forest University School of Busines. He is also an accredited associate with a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) designation from the United States Green Building Council.
 

Brian Rollar, First Vice President


Brian brings over eighteen years of experience to his position as a first vice president of Development with SunCap, focusing on pursuit of mixed-use and retail opportunities in the Southeast.

He built his career in Charlotte in commercial real estate, performing a diverse range of functions including site analysis and selection, financial analysis, acquisition, entitlement, construction and property management. Immediately prior to joining SunCap, Brian led design and development activities for York Development Group. He has developed over 1 million square feet of retail space, including power centers, neighborhood centers and grocery-anchored development.

Brian earned his Bachelor's Degree in landscape architecture from West Virginia University. He is an active member of ICSC and ULI and served on ULI's Young Leader's Program Committee. His community involvement includes a position on the board of the Charlotte Morrison YMCA and he served as president of Charlotte Succession, a nonprofit organization that facilitates personal and community development through leadership and service.
 

Maurisa Singer, IT Manager


A member of the SunCap team since 2013, Maurisa leads IT initiatives for all SunCap offices, expertly managing technology vendor relationships and providing daily support for all users. She created and expanded SunCap's IT department, helping the group to evolve from a start-up to mature organization.

Maurisa brings a diverse background to SunCap Property Group with over fifteen years of commercial real estate experience. Her career began in a support role in leasing, advancing to the property management division where she worked on a team responsible for over 300,000 square feet of Class A office space.
 
Maurisa graduated summa cum laude from DeVry University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Technical Management and a Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship Specialization.
 
 

Kevin Darr, Vice President


Kevin's primary responsibility is to perform due diligence and underwrite projects. He also works in a development operations role to entitle projects, securing the necessary approvals and permits.

Previously, Kevin was Development Coordinator at Primax Properties where he played an active role in site selection and management of the due diligence process of projects including: civil, environmental and geotechnical consultants for multiple retail clients. Kevin worked closely with the construction team to ensure schedule and delivery, represent the company in jurisdictional hearings, abstract leases, and manage warranty lease compliance.

Kevin received a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and is currently pursuing an MBA from Queens University.

 
 

Kerry Barth, Vice President


In his role leading the asset management team, Kerry is responsible for maximizing property value and investment returns for all of SunCap's assets. His thirty-five years of experience in engineering and facility operations in the hospitality, industrial and office sectors provide the firm's partners and investors assurance that their capital interests are being well represented. Kerry has been responsible for budgets in excess of $100,000,000 and schedules spanning twenty-four months. His areas of expertise include construction, tenant finish, contractor bidding selection, CapEx project management, budget preparations, preventative maintenance, energy tracking, building systems automation, security management and facility operations.

Kerry is based in SunCap's Denver office, traveling across the country to meet the needs of the diversified SunCap portfolio. Key projects he has been involved in include:  Ritz Carlton Kapalua, Hawaii; Lodge at Rancho Mirage; California Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne, Florida; Ritz Carlton Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Marriott, Grand Cayman, BWI.
 
 

Danelle Lane, Marketing Director


Danelle manages all of SunCap's communication and marketing efforts, develops internal and external brand interactions and presentations, and oversees external marketing and creative vendors in the execution of marketing programs and materials that complete project goals and initiatives.

Her thirty years of experience has been divided between commercial real estate firms and advertising/marketing agencies. Prior to joining SunCap, she was responsible for account management, project workflow and production for a web development firm and a regional advertising agency with a large concentration of real estate clients. The beginning of her career coincided with the genesis of The Harris Group, later Lincoln Harris, where she spent twelve years developing the marketing program.

She graduated cum laude from Wake Forest University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and earned a certificate in marketing from the same.
